The course aims to address the current context of the universe of contemporary signification that is increasingly moving towards articulated forms of interactive creation and fruition of texts. Concretely, it deals with:

• Transmitting analysis skills by providing a solid epistemic basis on the most interesting contemporary narrative and artistic products
• Fostering the ability to learn and apply knowledge in order to interpret and produce multi-media texts in a creative and innovative manner
• Articulate theoretical foundations in synergy with contemporary cultural narratives
• Develop awareness and autonomy of judgement regarding the complexity and multiplicity of the current landscape of interactive products
• Practically put into practice some basic design and semiotic skills necessary to move into the world of production

For these purposes the teaching includes laboratory activities dedicated to the design and operational aspects.

The students will be able to:

• demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the main theories concerning interactivity in art and storytelling;
• apply the understanding and knowledge learned to the productive and consumer contexts of contemporary culture;
• develop autonomy of judgement in the production and use of interactive and artistic texts;
• acquire specialist communicative and creative skills for the production of interactive texts;
• demonstrate learning skills with respect to theoretical developments and productive experimentation in the interactive field.
• demonstrate the ability to collaborate in groups and participate in the classroom

• Introduction to teaching, general exposition of the contents and teaching methods
• etymological and contextual analysis of key concepts
• examination of storytelling theories, with particular attention to those that underline the presence of the user in the text
• identification of the theoretical instrumentation necessary to deal with the theme of interactivity in art
• theoretical fundamentals and practical methods for the production of storytelling
• definition and extension of the concept of interactivity, from its first analogical, then technological implications to recent formulations more linked to the cultural dimension
• reconnaissance of the various forms in which interactivity manifests itself today, from interactive narrativity to artistic works
• interaction with guests
• synergy between theory and practice in possible visits
• participation in workshop activities (included in teaching hours) for learning practical and creative tools useful for the design and production of interactive products.

• presential classroom lessons
• it is possible to follow distance learning on webex only following a justified request at the beginning of the course or in case of specificity 
• face-to-face lectures, with the use of audio-video presentations and discussion led by the lecturer on the materials presented
• lectures by external experts on the subject, with the aim of bringing students into contact with particularly interesting experiences from an experimental and professional point of view
• practical exercises, during which work will be done on the analysis of existing products, the creation of new texts and the development of a final presentation on the topics covered. Detailed instructions for preparing the exercises will be made available.
• Availability of the teacher for virtual interaction, office hours, with participants and non-attendees.

Further instructions regarding seminar activities will be provided during the lectures.

* Giving the possibility to access the virtual version in case of absence, you are all considered to be attending. Theoretical and practical materials for constructing one's own "Vitacora" (portfolio of practices and literary-audio-visual essays accompanied by analysis and theoretical discussion) will be offered during the course of the course and this will be the subject/product for the exam (it will therefore be uploaded in final format on the day of the exame on MOODLE)

Teaching requires interactivity and therefore attendance is important. There are lectures and exercises. During the six weeks, various topics are explored in depth, which then form the basis for the workshops, some of which are carried out in the classroom or independently, individually or collectively. The processes, results, analyses, theories will be organised in a Vitacora, which we will view together step by step and which, when completed, will then be uploaded onto Moodle as an examination object. Active, dedicated, presential participation is recommended (we discuss together the themes and readings seen during the previous class): in this way the process will be enriching and engaging and you will arrive at the end of the course with 90% of your work done.

ATTENGING STUDENTS: on appointment, contact the professor

• Students are required to register before the course starts, using the "Register for Course" box at the bottom of this page. In this way the teacher will be able to check attendance, and above all send a collective email in case of urgent notices or communications
• The teacher is available to receive students and female students at the end of the lesson and during the dedicated students-time, to respond to the specific needs of the teaching or to direct them to a possible degree thesis
• The materials produced during the course will be shared electronically on MOODLE
